if it is an athlon 1.2 then it is a thunderbird (not xp). It should work with that board no probs...btw the way what is the price on the mobo? and if a chip came off the other mobo there is no way in hell it is gonna work...the HSF (heatsink fan) looks like it is pure copper and with that fan (60mm looks like) it should be great for dissapating the heat from the athlon. btw do you think it will be ready for practice tonite? T3, Yes i am hopeing if might. But If WolfsRain says this Motherboard willwork for the heatsink and Proccsor that we have, than I would have to go and buy the motherboard and put everything back to the parts that I got case HD vedio card ect... As for practice today, just warning you guys that If i wont be online, that i am at the warehouse setting up the T3 either with the 450 or 1.2. So Council members and members just get online around 6 our practice time. Join our Public RW ch with the tryout guys and go find a server like HomLan and practice like that, Sorry but I just want to get the T3 running soon as possible.

[shadow=Green,left,300]Ok check this out, I bought a new K7ama Motherbaord for our Server. I installed everything on it and tryed to boot it up. It worked! At least the motherbaord did. when I turn it on, all i see is the heatsink fan going off which means the motherboard is working but I didnt even geta "Beap" and noting else happens. I check the vedio card, tryed different ram you name it. The only thing that I didnt try is the "pins" I only pluged in 1 pin for power supple. I have a like 4 other pin wires that are not pluged in the motherboard because noting is labled on the motherboard so i didnt try to plug them in. Only one I have pluged in is the "Power SW" pin wire and after 2nd try I got it in the right pin plug in thing lol. Here are the list of pin wires that are not pluged in the motherbaord (not connected) 1. POWER LED 2. H.D.D LED 3. RESET LED 4. T/S LED My friend told me that those pins are not important. He thinks it's the proccesor that is broken (from his experiace) Like I said the reason why i didnt connect these rest 4 pin wires is because its because i would have to guess which one goes which and if the proccsor is broken, i dont want to waste my time. Only one I pluged in and connected was the POWER SW pin wire. So I got a question for you. ITs not booting up because of the pins right? Its because proccsor is dead? I will go to my friends house and try to use his 900 AMD chip and see if it will boot up, if it does that the proccsor is dead. please let me know what might be wrong or post any opinions! Thanks for your help.[/shadow]

yeah those aren't necessary for the system to boot, just status LEDs. I would make sure that the processor is seated firmly and if that doesn't work try the new one. If we can't get this to work I have a slot A 750 athlon and mobo I could send you. Not sure of its worky-workyness , but it is worth trying.

I'm not sure about this but i would say its the processor, there are 3 primary things for the computer to boot up and BEEP, first ram, then video card and then the processor. If all those are fine you should hear the BEEP. Anyway hope that helps

I will try to see if i can go into the BIOS after I take out the prosccsor.

it won't let you....if you can't get it to POST (which is when you hear the beep) then you won't be able to access the bios.... one other thing i thought about is that you might wanna turn the speaker connection around on the mobo...it might be trying to beep but it can't....i don't know if that affects speakers but if an led is turned around it won't turn on....

you gentlemen are very correct, god i hope at least my processor works out of this, if not..oh well, i know its only 33 dollars to get another one off pricewatch.
One thing Surge, do you have the processor fan plugged into the motherboard? I konw motherboards that won't boot if they dont detect a processor fan present. This is a safety feature so the processor isnt destroyed. If you do have the fan installed, make sure the fan is installed into the number 1 fan port. This is the first port checked for a fan presence. IF the fan is not plugged into this port, it may not post either.
Just some things to think about. YOu may also want to plug in the power button, the harddrive led and so on. I know they arent required but some motherboards require them as safety features.

K7 is a very weird motherboard. The reason is because it can accept DDR ram and SDR ram. When I bought the motherboard it was set on DDR ram. In the Menual it says you have to change the pins and open and short pins. So I am working on this right now. I will try to go over my friends house because he knows how to switch it, i hope. Just have to wait sorry guys

Surge, I believ that an XP Processor will work with your motherboard. You need to know the model type, but if you go the website link you showed me, and look for the updated bios, one of the updates mentions that it supports Athlon XP processors up to 2600+ maybe higher. If you have an XP Processor to try, it should work. The Duron model processor is virtually what the celeron processor is for the Pentiums. The duron is just a cheaper more economical version of the XP processors. Usually if it supports durons it will support XP processors. here is the link i found the info at. www.ecsusa.com/downloads/k7ama.htmlyou may just need to flash the bios on the motherboard to support it. 02/08/12 09/09/02 Award® BIOS. Support AMD Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ CPU 220KB AMI Flash

yeah but if he can't boot....he can't flash...hopefully it is the correct bios revision already....it won't hurt to try an XP surge, worst that can happen is it won't work ;D

OK here is the deal...I just called my bank to add surge's address to my credit card and they said they couldn't do that. I informed them that I've already had this done once. Then they said they would have to wait till 8:30 to give me a call back which is no good because I have to go see a client at 8:30....soooooo I am going to give them a call back at 9:30 or 10:00 when I get back. The good news is that I checked with newegg and it says that the address verification is GOOD, meaning that everything has cleared already. So I dunno if it just says that by default or whether they didn't check cause I order from them all the time... I'll update when I have more info!
