i had a question and i was hoping to get some suggestions here. Heres my specs. P4 3.0 HT 2 74g western digital raptor HD run as STAT (138g) 2g's of GELI 3200 ram ran as daul (4 512 sticks) Nvidia geforce 5900 Ultra 256. Monitor: Envision 22" flat lcd Asus p4p800 montherboard My concern is my video card. It has finally came that my card cant run a modern game any more. ... I bought the card for $500 bucks when it came out... Finally it came its time. I tried to play COD4 demo last night, it cant run the game, says doesn't meet the spec. My question is what do i do with this PC... Do i buy another AGP 8x card either the : 1. HIS Hightech H195PRQT512DDAN-R-V2 Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 8X HDCP 2. XFX PVT71KUDF3 GeForce 7900GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X 3. BFG Tech BFGR78256GSOC GeForce 7800GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X ---------------- Those are the best cards for AGP according to newegg.com Or do i throw my pc away and wast cash on a new machine which i will be forced to upgrade in 2-3 again anyways. So a $200 dollar upgrade or a $1,000 dollar upgrade with pci modern setups. I just want to run COD4 on full graphics when it comes out....I also have a 22" monitor and so i want it to handle a high resolution if possible... but most likely i will be playing on 1024 by 768. Opinions are welcome, thanks ahead of time

so i finally installed my 1950pro 512 card.... the ATI driver setup took FOREVER but its the performance that counts I upgraded from nvidia 5900 ultra 256... Always been an nvidia fan so this my first ATI card and im quite impressed by the performance at this point. I ran some test between my old and new card using fraps fps and 3dmark 05 v. 1.3.0 pro. 5900 ultra 256: * Madden 2008: Stock settings on performance. 60-40 fps. * Bf2: LOW GRAPHICS. 800 by 600 res. .. Everything pretty much set on low......... 100 fps = wall on kirkland, 90 fps looking at tree, 75fps looking under blown up tank . 3dmark score on performance settings @ 1024 by 798: 1223 3dmark score on QUILTY settings @ 1024 by 798: 1028 The sapphire 1950 pro 512mb: Madden 2008: 60-55 fps 1st of all, it ran cod4 demo on default setting as smooth as it gets, 5900 ultra did not meet the specs to even run the game. Bf2: @ same low settings 800 by 600 everything on low..... kept 100 fps on wall, tree and under the blow tank... didn't even drop fps like 5900 ultra did. Ran a test at same place but with all high graphics setup...1360 by 768 @75mhz refresh ... the wall was 100 fps, tree was 70 and tank was 70 fps... same as 5900 ultra scores but on super high max graphics compared to 5900 ultra low setting/performance setup. was it worth the $175 dollar upgrade? You bet ya... i bought the 5900 ultra for $480 dollars when it came out... it lasted me all these years... yes the past few years ive been forced to play on ultra low graphics settings but its ok, still had the skills to stay on top with people who upgraded monthly. This minor upgrade of mine should last me another couple years and maybe only half or 1 year on high graphics settings. Overall its a great card and if you have AGP you must pick this up! What are the scores you guys get when you run the 1950 pro in a 05 3dmark?
