I figured I'd get asked sooner or later. Well, what I had was: Celeron 2.8ghz processor Intergrated 64MB Graphics Card 256MB RAM 233Mhz Speed 80GB Harddrive Motherboard with 2x Memory Slots (Max 2Gig) and ONLY supports PCI (don't want to list everything, but everything else is standard) Pretty crappy, I know, cost 600 bucks about 3-4 years ago so I'd like to get past the though that I bought it... Anyway, I upgraded to this (to date): AMD Athalon 3800+ 2.4Ghz Nvidia 5200 PCI 128mb Graphics Card 1Gig 400Mhz speed RAM 80GB harddrive New mobo with 2x Memory slots and 1, PCI-E 16x slot, rest PCI. Now my only beef is my nasty graphics card, and since my BF2 crashes at least once every 30 minutes it is getting old. I get paid tomorrow but I can't figure out what I want to buy, something around 100 bucks so I can get it, ya know, tomorrow, and not have to wait another 2 weeks I was thinking of getting a Nvidia 6600 or 6800, PCI-E 16x, and hopefully at least 256MB on the card but I can deal with 128, as long as it runs BF2 smoothly Any suggestions or opinions would help, and would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest 6800 256 of ram. Don't by the 128 because with now days games, 128 will be standar requirement. You always want to be over the standar requirements just by little bit.

I game with a P4 3.4Ghz HT Extreme, 2GB PC 4200, and Nvidia 6800 GT 256Mb. I have the standard M something Dell 19" monitor.
My new system is a dual core Pentium 840 Extreme, rumning on an Nvidia nForce SLI X16 Motherboard. I have 4GB of DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz and dual Nvidia 7800 GTX 512MB DDR3 video cards.
Oh yeah, for Surge: I have it up and running and my MB problem is fixed. I uploaded Doom 3, max'ed out the settings and got 88 FPS. Next, I tired FarCry and got well over 125 FPS, once hitting 140 FPS. When I started runing 3dMark05, it started to get a little hot and the Zone 2 MB board temp was well into the yellow (cautionary) zone. I still managed to pull overall score of 12,235 on 3dMark05. After Friday, my new windows will be in and I can put the AC unit back in the window and blow that firgid air into the case.

I went well above what I wanted and ended up getting a Nvidia 7600 GS 256MB PCI-E graphics card. It isn't as good as the GT, but it was 20 dollars more then the 6600, and it is well over it in performance. Now I find out my power supply is only 200W (how my computer turns on is well beyond me), so I need another 40 dollars and I can get a new case with a 450W power supply, but I need to wait till my next paycheck (again ) Guess I have to be laggy till then

Why don't you get a new power supply instead of changing cases? It would be much easier. You could even run two power supplies if you had to, just leave one outside the case.

Zeke cant you barrow money from your folks or something and pay them back next week. I wanna game now! I want to see how good you really are, cuz judging you with your weak card is kinda lame and unfair

This will have to hold you over! /flex Oh yeah /flex_more Lol... anyway, I can't replace only the power supply because gateway decided to rivet the power supply in place, and power supplies are still around the same amount of money as the case/power supply together (it's 50 dollars for a 400W power supply alone at Frys). Plus, my case is mid-atx or something like that, so it's a bit smaller than regular ATX cases, so I won't mind the upgrade. Unfortunatly, my father won't give me ANY money and I'm used to buying anything I want by now so I will just have to wait another 10 days or so :S I think I do alright with what I have though, especially now that I can steal your golds Surge >

HEHE, ya the commander trick. Just back , relax, throw a few UAV's, map snipe 2 people, die 5 times trying though but still end up with the gold. Good thing surge is out their working his butt off for your points hehe.
But getting gold everytime isnt the thing that's gonna get anyone in here.

I don't think you can move the parts over to a new case when you have a proprietary system like Dell or Gateway. I tried with both my Gateway and my old Dell. They use funky parts and wire them in so they can be upgraded, but not moved. Trust me, I tried and it was screwed up. Even the fan on the gateway is installed in a special sleeve, which will not fit in a new ATX case. Plus, you have to literally break the fan to get it out of the sleeve. Your only choice is to get a new ATX case, MB and parts that fit. I have an extra PS, so if you want that, let me know.
