Hey i have a small problem. My CDROM on XBOX is reading CD poorly. The warrenty is gone already. Instead of buying a new Xbox rom for $50 bucks, i was wondering if i can buy a regular PC CdRom so i can then play burned games or downloaded games from the interenet.
Is this true though? In order to play burned and downloaded games from internet i need to install a PC CDrom? If it is, which one do i need to buy? Thanks ahead of time.

There are a bunch of guys that install that stuff, I am not sure how it is done, but they do it... you can put any game in there for the xbox and it will save it to the drive for you... my uncle in Georgia knows such a guy, he does it for the PS2 too.

My friend created this thing that if he rented a game, the second he played it on his PS2, it would burn the whole thing to the hard drive, thus having the game forever.

Yeah, it's the same thing... but they don't charge cheap to install it unless you know the guy... the guy my uncle knew said he would do mine for $200

I have both my xboxes modded, mainly for mediacenter ablilties, but it does play copies now as well. this works well with having a 6 year old... theres a utility you can load onto a modified xbox to rip the xbox image and store it on the hdd.
