I decided to post this thread for anyone who might have an interest in Joint Operations: Escalation. Just to keep you updated in case we ever get serious into the game.
I've playing pretty regularly and meeting people along the way. There are a lot, I mean ALOT of squads out there and some of them are very good. You have your usual dumbasses as well, but on average, there is not much bitching or complaining on a frequent basis.
The maps kick ass like a size 18 shoe! What is pretty cool is that some of the maps are just gigantic. You can get in a vehicle at your main base and drive for a couple minutes just to get to the action on the far side of the map (provided your team captured most of the enemy bases), yet, some of the capture points overlap, action there is always fast and furious. In the overlap you count for both capture points if you get into that little overlapping area. Fighting there is crazy because every one wants that little slice and you are either fighting prowling tanks trying to run you over or mad knifers slicing everything in sight.
Oh yeah, remember the old DF2 and how knifing a sniper (or anyone else) was one of the coolest parts of the game? Well, knifing is back big time in this game and if you get anywhere near someone else, count on getting out your blade and shedding some blood. There are some crazy knife fights I've seen, like one guy getting into a capture base and just raising total havoc. I know one guy killed 7 guys before they put him down...oh yeah, that was me! LMAO! It was surreal! Anyway, claymores are still you best defense against a lurking knifer!
On the skills side of things, I am definitely getting my skills back (very different set from FarCry). Choosing your class, weapons, and ammo are more important then ever before. You have to have the right amount of firepower (and right ammo) if you want to win in JO:E. I consistently place in the top 8-10 in every game I play start to finish. Last night's game was 1 Hour and 53 minutes long and running about 75 to 80 people, and it revolved around the chemical plant, which is another gigantic map. Very cool!
Well, that is it for this round. Try JO: E, you will love it!

Hard question Bro. If you are in close quarters, not too much beats the P90. It is devasting with a high rate of fire. It is not too accurate at anything beyond close range, but close up, it is a KILLER!
The MK23 shotgun works well up close too, but it has a slow rate of fire.
For medium and semi-long distance ranges, if you are JO, use the G36. It has a basic scope and its dead on accurate.
If you are the Rebels, use the FN-FNC (no scope though) or the AK-74 with aimpoint scope.
I see a lot of people assaulting with the heavier machine guns and what they lack for accuracy, they more than make up for in rate of fire.
Hope this help Bro!

Correction on the P90 Bro! It has a scope and it is pretty damn good out for a ways, as well as great for sprying at close range. I scored some big time kills with it today. Crouching or prone, firing short bursts, you can easily hit what you are aiming at!

More results of gaming:
For me, the best class seems to be medic, especially if you want to see your name on top of the leader board. Medics still get tremendous points for saves and since they can use the P90 as well, they are just as lethal as most of the other classes.
The P90 has a very distinctive sound, which has a sort of metallic resonance to it. From the sounds of battle, most people are using the P90 now. I think this is because it has a high rate of fire, can be aimed with the scope feature, is actually pretty damn accurate with the scope, and has a 50 round magazine. It also is light, so it does not slow you down and you can carry more accessories, like body armor.
Choosing your ammo is important. Soft point (SPs) are devastating against individuals with no body armor. They also suck against armor. There is visual change to a soldier to determine if he is wearing body armor or not. So while you are hitting him with SPs, he continues to pop your ass. I have not used Full Metal Jacket (FMJs) a lot, but I know Armor Piercing (APs) are good for body armor, but still do not bring a person down like SPS. Again, they don't seem to be too effective against unarmored personnel though. Strange.
Played some map called Four Mists, IT ROCKS! Chemical plant rocks too! Will play a few more maps and let you all know how it goes.
I usually play in Dogs of War 1, 2, or 3, whichever is an AAS map and the server holds 64.

I've reading the NW Forums and there seems to be a lot of bitching about the newest update to JOE, in which they incorporated bullet spread. So, even though you are aiming, your bullets seem to go all over the place.
I've noticed in the game, I can be proned out, using scope on someone and they turn and while running, spray up at me and I die before they do. Of course, it you do short bursts, you accuracy is pretty good.
BHD was very different, if you put the crosshairs on something, you hit where you aimed. It will be interesting to see what Novalogic does at the situation.

Still playing JO for a couple of hours a night and loving it! Novaworld has a stat tracker and keeps track of such things as kills, deaths, med saves, capture points taken, head shots, ect. The tracker is still in the trial phase and evidently, it needs some work. The game in which I had 87 medical saves never made to the stats, despite being on an official server. So, I don't think the stat tracker is 100% accurate. The one thing it does do is let you know who the ass kickers are. I'm sitting at number 606 (up from 729) on the list right now, but I missed about a week of play time. So, plenty of catch up to do. Team work in the games is definitely on the rise, even on the public servers. I guess people are starting to get a clue that your not going to win being a lone ranger. I see a lot of the same people coming to the same servers and although it is nothing like the team work on ~*DS*~, people are starting to do certain tasks to fill in the weaknesses of the team (more medics, mortaring, hanging in the rear with a Javeliin or stinger), knowing that other players are doing other tasks to complement those. Yesterday was a great example, people were not immediately charging the capture points, but instead waiting for a full loaded tank to arrive, hitting the capture zone with mortars first, having enough medics to keep the assault alive, ect. Makes me remember the old DF2 fondly! Well, I supposed I should get back to work, because they sure as hell aren't paying me to play JOE...although I wish they would!

Man you need to get a job like mine, only on a land line and not a satellite. I can play video games all day long so long as nothing breaks. If only we could send signals faster than the speed of light I would not have a standard 500ms ping at best. Bastards.

Damn Bro, why don't you just get some other guys and LAN the games. There would be almost no ping at all. Surely someone else over there is as big a fanatic as you are? LMAO!

We had difficulties setting up games too. We could not do it during the week because we had a second shift who came into the office and used our computers. That's when we played X-Box. On the weekends, especially Sunday, we did the LAN thing. What a blast playing 1st person shooters and having an M4 next to you!

If any of you guys do get JOE and want Novalogic to track your stats, make sure you play in a server that is tracked. You can tell by the small "s" in the corner of the server icon when you choose your game.

man if I could play JOE I would be rolling with you guys. Take 38,000 miles and divide it by the speed of light in MPH, then multiply by 2 and that is the best possible ping I could have, which is about 500 ms or about half a second. I got plenty of bandwidth but my lag would be intolerable.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I remember being there and it taking 30 minutes to load up a web page. It sucked!
On the better side, according to Novaworld stats, I was #606 overall, then dropped to #726. I am slowly climbing my way back up the ladder and I am now #189! And it only took 8 hours a day for two days! I think some of these people play the game non-stop 24/7. I look at the times they have logged and it is friggin unbelievable! I have off tomorrow (birthday), so I will be on another four or five hours! Ha-Ha!
